Multi-day Trips & Expeditions

For a place the size of Vancouver Island, a multi-day guided trip solves the two hard problems at once: the driving and the logistics. Kayak expeditions into the Broken Group Islands do the same for the water.

Multi-day Trips & Expeditions on Vancouver Island

Two kinds of trip live here. The first is a guided road circuit — several days in a small group, typically Victoria to the Pacific Rim and back, with the lodging, driving and daily activities arranged. The second is a paddling expedition: the Broken Group Islands in Barkley Sound are one of the great sea-kayak destinations in North America, and the multi-day trips out of Ucluelet and Toquart Bay camp in the islands with a guide who handles tides, weather and Parks Canada permits.

Both are bookings to make early. Groups are small by design and the season is short — roughly May to September for the kayak expeditions, and the guided road trips run mostly in the summer months.

Read the itinerary closely for what is included: on some road trips accommodation is part of the price and on others it is arranged but paid separately, and kayak expeditions differ in whether meals and camping gear are supplied.
